Update: AIM Diagnostic Imaging Physician Recognition Program
Aug. 10, 2022 Update: The effective date for the discontinuance of the Diagnostic Imaging Management Physician Recognition Program has changed from September 1, 2022 to January 1, 2023.
Effective Jan. 1, 2023, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) is discontinuing and re-evaluating our Diagnostic Imaging Management Physician Recognition Program (PRP) with AIM Specialty Health (AIM). As of this date, all providers obtaining prior authorization for Blue Cross NC members with AIM will need to provide the medical necessity of the service being requested.
To be considered for the PRP, providers had to meet certain criteria. Since the implementation of the PRP, Blue Cross NC had minimal membership participating in the program.
