Health management programs

Your plan can do a lot for you. If you have questions about your health or a condition that requires special care, we can help.

Chronic health issue management

If you have a chronic health issue like asthma, diabetes or heart disease, you may be eligible for Healthy Endeavors℠. With Healthy Endeavors, you can talk with a trained nurse health coach at no extra cost to you. 

Case management program

If you’ve been diagnosed with a complex health condition, our nurse case managers can teach you about your condition, give you reading materials to learn more, coordinate your care with your doctor, and help create a preventive care plan for healthier living. There's no extra cost to you.

Free mobile health app

Wellframe® is a free mobile application that connects you to a confidential and supportive health care team.1 Wellframe can give you personalized daily care plans, appointment reminders, and encouragement and support, and health checklists tailored to you. Call the Federal Employee Customer Service line to learn more.

Medication therapy management

Blue Cross NC provides medication therapy management (MTM) to members with a Service Benefit Plan. With MTM, clinical pharmacists can help you identify, prevent and resolve any medication-related problems, from side effects and drug interactions to drug use for non-medical purposes. Call to get one-on-one counseling from a clinical pharmacist.

Prescription drugs

Some prescription medications require pre-approval from Blue Cross NC. Before you buy, you can check to see if your prescriptions need pre-approval by visiting the FEP Blue pharmacy page. You can also call the Retail Pharmacy Program at 800-624-5060, or check your plan brochure for more information.

Pre-approvals for medical services

Some procedures and services require pre-approval from Blue Cross NC. Services that may require pre-approval include: 

  • Hospice care 
  • Inpatient hospital admission 
  • Organ and tissue transplants 
  • Behavioral health (mental health and substance use disorder) 

Before you make your appointment for these services, have your doctor or provider call us at 800-222-4739. Your doctor can also find pre-approval forms on our provider prior authorization page
