Get your health insurance through your employer?

Did you sign up on the Health Insurance Marketplace?

You just need to pay your first premium bill online.

Never miss a payment with Blue Connect

The quickest way to pay your premium bill and access health insurance billing is online at the Blue Connect member portal. You can access Blue Connect on your computer or download the Blue Connect app from the App Store® or Google Play® to pay on your phone or another mobile device.

Tips for managing your costs and care

Use in-network providers

You can save money by going to in-network doctors, labs, and hospitals under contract with your Blue Cross NC plan for discounted rates.

Search for in-network providers using our Find Care tool.

Consider your deductible

Plans with higher deductibles typically have lower monthly premiums but may offer less coverage than plans with lower deductibles and higher monthly premiums.

Before choosing a plan, consider your health and any health conditions you may have.

Understand your pharmacy and prescription benefits

Your plan may come with pharmacy and prescription drug benefits. Review your Benefits Booklet in Blue Connect to find out what medications are covered under your plan and to learn about drug costs.

Save with an HSA

When you contribute pre-tax earnings to a health savings account (HSA) through your employer or contribute to an individual HSA to claim tax deductions, you can use those funds for health care purchases, essentially making those purchases tax-free. HSAs are available with some plans.

Billing and payment FAQ

If you get health coverage through an employer:

  • Contact your group administrator or HR department to make changes to your account.
  • Get an Enrollment and Change Application from Customer Service (call the number on the back of your member ID card) or through your employer. Complete sections A and B.

If you buy your own health coverage:

  • Log in to Blue Connect to update your contact information when your address, cell phone number, or email address changes.
  • Or contact Customer Service for help by calling the number on the back of your member ID card.

Visit HealthCare.gov, to cancel any plans you purchased there.

If you purchased your own plan elsewhere, you can ask to cancel that plan in the Blue Connect member portal.

Here's what to do next:

  1. Send a Secure Message to Customer Service through your Blue Connect Inbox.
  2. Click the Compose button.
  3. Select Cancel My Plan as your message topic.
  4. Fill out the request form and submit.

Otherwise, please call the Customer Service number on the back of your member ID card for assistance.

You have the right to request a formal appeal of the claim payment or denial. A detailed description of this process may be found in your Member Guide. Customer Service can also assist you in starting the appeal process.

Blue Cross NC will work with you to resolve the issue. For each step in the appeals process, there are specified time frames for filing a grievance and for Blue Cross NC to notify you or your provider of the decision.
