2022 Attestation Requirement for Facilities and Ancillary Providers & the CAA Mandate

Nov. 08, 2022 Update: We have posted an update to this communication.

Effective December 1, 2022, all facility and ancillary providers will be required to attest to directory display information that includes practice name, address, phone number, digital contact information and specialty (as required).

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) will be required to suppress providers that have not attested per the legislative requirements until attestation is current. To streamline attestation processes, Blue Cross NC has partnered with Quest Analytics/BetterDoctor to conduct outreach to our facility and ancillary providers to obtain attestation on a quarterly basis. Quest will be sending general information directly to impacted providers within the next few weeks on the approach and process that will be followed for providers to properly attest.

Please note that attestation is required for all providers, however, Phase I focus is facility and ancillary providers. More information will be communicated in the coming months on Phase 2 (all remaining providers; non-facility and ancillary).

What we are asking our facility and ancillary providers to do at this time:

  • Anticipate further communication and outreach from Quest Analytics/BetterDoctor
  • Become familiar with the Quest Analytics/BetterDoctor vendor and process through this FAQ document

What we are asking all our providers to do at this time:

  • Continue to maintain accurate demographic information with Blue Cross NC through our routine process
  •  The Demographic & Contact Information and Job Aid located here provide the necessary instructions on how to complete this

We encourage providers to continue to maintain accurate demographic information with Blue Cross using the Demographic and Contact Information Form.
