Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) is launching a transportation pilot program designed to support eligible Affordable Care Act (ACA) Health Individual U65 members with access to non-emergency transportation for medical care. The goal of this pilot is to reduce transportation-related barriers and help members more easily reach medically necessary services.

Pilot overview

• Eligibility: This pilot program is available to active Commercial Individual U65 - ACA Health subscribers and any dependents on their policy who are 18 years of age or older.
• Availability: Participation is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Ride benefits: Each eligible participant may receive up to eight one-way rides during the program period. Rides may be used for approved health-related destinations, including medical appointments and visits, inpatient stays, and pharmacy trips.
• Enrollment and scheduling: Before scheduling any rides, all participants are required to complete an eligibility assessment by telephone at 855-932-5415. Once the assessment is complete, members may schedule rides directly either online at the SafeRide website or through the SafeRide call center at 855-932-5415.
