In support of our commitment to high-quality behavioral health services, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) Behavioral Health team will host two provider webinars in October focusing on updated medical policies, prior authorization requirements, and upcoming prior authorization changes for Adaptive Behavioral Treatment (ABT) for autism spectrum disorders.
These sessions will provide:
- An overview of ABT medical policies that took effect July 2, 2025.
- Guidance to ensure that care is medically necessary, clinically appropriate, and contributes to successful treatment outcomes prior to services being rendered.
- Insights from provider feedback since policy implementation.
- Alignment on expectations, documentation standards, and best practices for submitting authorization requests.
- A preview of upcoming prior authorization process changes scheduled to take effect in the near future.
