Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) has partnered with Carelon Medical Benefits Management (Carelon) to administer our Sleep Management Program since 2017. The intent of the program is to ensure sleep studies are medically necessary and provided in the appropriate setting. 

On September 8, 2025, Carelon will release operational enhancements to its Provider Portal for the Sleep Management Program. These improvements are aimed at creating a seamless user experience during the intake process.

After implementation, you may notice the clinical intake screens look and function differently. 

A few updates will include:

• Improved look and feel of the case entry screens
• Enhanced service selection and diagnosis entry
• Intuitive clinical questions to reduce case entry time

Carelon will host helpful webinar sessions and Q&A only sessions for providers and office staff to learn more about the updates. We strongly encourage you and your practice to participate, even if you are already familiar with Carelon and the Provider Portal through other specialty programs.
