As part of our commitment to support high-quality behavioral health services, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) Behavioral Health team will host two provider webinars in August focusing on prior authorization requirements for Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP).
These sessions will serve as a refresher on the updated IOP and PHP medical policies that became effective August 1, 2024, to confirm that care is medically necessary, clinically appropriate, and contributes to the successful outcome of treatment prior to services being provided. Since then, we have received valuable feedback and want to ensure that our provider partners are aligned with current expectations, documentation standards, and best practices for submitting authorization requests.
