Update August 21: EDI Clearinghouse Available for Dental Blue and Dental Blue Select Providers

Update August 21: We previously stated as of July 18, 2024, Blue Cross NC Dental Providers could submit claims electronically through DentalXChange. We recently learned there was an issue with the production files for our commercial dental policy claims. This issue has since been resolved, however dental policy claims submitted between July 18 and August 12 may experience payment delays of up to 60 days.

Update July 22: Blue Cross NC Dental Providers now have two additional clearinghouse options to submit their dental claims for Dental Blue and Dental Select insurance plans. 

As of July 18, 2024, Blue Cross NC is live with Vyne Dental and as of July 19, Blue Cross is live with DentalXChange. 

Effective June 4, 2024, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) Dental Providers can submit their dental claims through EDI Clearinghouse - Smart Data Solutions (SDS).

As a reminder, should you be using an alternate clearinghouse, please confirm their process in submitting claims on your behalf (either by paper or using an accepted/approved clearinghouse for electronic submission).    

Providers with Dental Blue claims need to submit using payor number 61473.

Providers with Dental Blue Select claims need to submit using payor number 61474.

In addition to electronic submission, dental providers can continue to submit their dental claims via fax or mail as listed below:
