Blue Cross NC maintained high Medicare Advantage (MA) Stars Ratings

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) received our 2025 Medicare Advantage (MA) Star Ratings results from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Blue Cross NC maintained high Medicare Star Ratings for 2025 for the fourth year in a row.

Blue Cross NC Medicare Star Ratings for 2025:

• Blue Cross NC Medicare Advantage HMO and PPO plans achieved a 4.5 out of 5 Star Rating
• Blue Cross NC Experience Health plans achieved a 4 out of 5 Star Rating
• Blue Cross NC Dual Eligible Special Needs (D-SNP) plans achieved a 3.5 out of 5 Star Rating

About Medicare Star Ratings

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) uses Medicare Star Ratings to measure the experiences and outcomes people with Medicare have with their health plan and health care providers.

Medicare members will see these MA Star Ratings when shopping for health plans in the current 2025 Annual Enrollment Period (AEP).

Depending on the type of plan, CMS uses anywhere from 12 to 40 unique quality and performance measures, in addition to data from the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) and the Healthcare Effectiveness and Data Information Set (HEDIS), to measure Medicare Star Ratings.

CMS uses member satisfaction and clinical quality measures to evaluate the performance of the health plan against national benchmarks. Members are surveyed annually on their experience with the health plan and their health care providers. Plans are also assessed on how well they perform on measures, such as Colorectal Cancer Screening, Blood Pressure Control, and Adherence to Diabetic medications. Providers play a critical role in ensuring their patients get the care they need.
