Itemized Bill Review for Outpatient Claims
Effective January 1, 2024, outpatient claims will be included in the Host / Blue Card Itemized Bill Review Program. The same process that was shared in prior communications will also apply for Blue Card outpatient claims.
In November 2020 and May 2021, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) posted communications regarding the Blue Card Itemized Bill Review (IBR) Program and instructions on how to submit itemized bills for the review. Blue Cross NC is required by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association to perform reviews of itemized bills. We have provided a link to that prior communication for your reference.
