CMS 1500, UB04 and Claim Listing Will Have a New Look After Upgrades This Fall

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) would like to make providers aware of upcoming changes to the CMS 1500, UB04 and Claim Listing transactions on Blue e. There will be a new modern look after an upgrade takes place this fall. It is important to make providers aware so you can continue to submit and review claims without error or delay.

Providers will be able to continue to submit, retrieve and view claims, and submit corrected claims using the following transactions until the changes take place: Claim Listing, Current and Classic CMS 1500 and UB04.

The following is a high-level summary of the upcoming changes:

  • Providers have the capability to begin using the new and revised current CMS 1500 and the Classic CMS 1500, the Classic CMS 1500 will no longer be available after the upgrade. We will provide additional communication when this date is set.
  • UB04 transaction will also be revised; however, continue to use the current transaction until the upgrade is made.
  • The claim listing will be upgraded to a new format and we will communicate that effective date at a later time. Blue Cross NC would like to remind all providers to review their Claim Listing for errored claims and take immediate action to remedy errors.
  • After the upgrade, providers will not be able to access those errored claims filed prior to the upgrade.
  • Blue Cross NC strongly encourages providers to always remain current in reviewing their Claim Listing report. Oftentimes our research finds that providers do not take any action on errored claims. As a reminder, providers have 14 days to take the necessary action on any errored claims noted in the Claims Listing.

Please be on the lookout for additional updates regarding the upgrade this fall.
