Reminder for Place of Service and Durable Medical Equipment
As a reminder, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) requires durable medical equipment (DME) to be submitted with a place of service (POS) that represents where the member intends to use the equipment (typically at home). Providers may experience delays and denials when submitting DME claims with an incorrect POS. Providers receiving DME POS denials are encouraged to submit a corrected claim with an appropriate POS that reflects where the DME will be used.
This communication applies to State Health Plan (SHP), Administrative Services Only (ASO), Fully Insured, Senior Market Administration (SMA), and IPP Host. It does not apply to FEP or IPP Home claims.
