Provider Enrollment Backlog
Oct. 6, 2022 Update: Provider enrollments currently have 60-80 days of turnaround time. We are working diligently to return to normal inventory turnaround times for new enrollments .
Sept. 22, 2022 Update: This communication has been updated to reflect the new anticipated date that Blue Cross NC will return to normal inventory levels.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) would like to share an update to a previously posted communication regarding provider enrollment delays. Provider enrollments currently have 90 days of turnaround time. We have implemented automation to improve efficiency, as well as a new process limiting the number of practice locations that the provider can be added to at the time of initial enrollment.
As a reminder, effective June 1, 2022, we began loading only the first two practice locations within each group. If you have received notification that your practitioner has been enrolled and you have additional active locations for that practitioner, please submit a request to add these additional locations through the Demographic Change Form (PDF).
To submit claims while providers are pending enrollment, a practitioner or group may submit an Enrollment Pending Claims Filing Exception form (PDF), which will facilitate claims payment before the practitioner is linked to a group and enrollment is completed. Please note our anticipated target date for returning to normal inventory levels in Q4 2022.
