Register for Blue Connect℠
Blue Connect℠ is your secure, personalized member portal. You can quickly access pharmacy information whenever you need it, whether at home or in a doctor's office or pharmacy.
Choose a pharmacy
Our retail pharmacy network includes Harris Teeter, Walgreens, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and more, plus many independent pharmacies.1 We also allow you to get your long-term medications delivered to your door through our mail-order pharmacy network.
Check your formulary
Your formulary is a list of covered medications. Your formulary includes details on medication coverage and restrictions. You can also refer to your plan’s Evidence of Coverage for benefits, copayment, and coinsurance information. Both documents are available in the Medicare Forms Library.
Bring your Medicare Advantage ID card
Your ID card is the key to using your pharmacy benefits. Be sure to present it when you visit the pharmacy to verify your coverage.
Keep this card in your wallet so you'll always have it with you. You can also access your member ID card online in Blue Connect.
Use your transportation benefit
Many of our Medicare Advantage plans make it easy to get to and from doctor appointments or the pharmacy to pick up prescriptions.2
With the non-emergency medical transportation benefit, you'll get:
- Flexible options to book a ride in advance or on demand
- Wheelchair-accessible vans and non-emergency ambulances as needed

Keep your costs low
Your pharmacy coverage includes benefits designed to help keep costs low. Generic medications have the same active ingredient as the brand name medications and usually cost less.
- Certain generic medications used to treat conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol are available to members at low or $0 copay when filled at an in-network pharmacy. Learn more about the Tier 6 (Select Care Drugs) (PDF).
- Ask your doctor or pharmacist if a generic alternative is available.

Keep track of your medications
Set up medication reminders, prepare for refills, and avoid excess stock of medications.
- Use tools like alarms, pill boxes, or pharmacy reminders to take medications on schedule. Track when your prescriptions need refills and ask your doctor ahead of time, so you always have medication on hand.
- Avoid filling prescriptions too early to prevent overstock and confusion about your treatment plan. Check your prescription labels to ensure the medication and strength are current. To avoid waste, use your current stock of medications before requesting a refill.

Medicare Prescription Payment Plan
Medicare Part D enrollees have the option to pay their out-of-pocket prescription drug costs in monthly payments, spread over the year, rather than all at once.
