Update: New Functionality within our Provider Portal, Care Affiliate: Prior Authorization Process
Update November 15, 2024: Originally posted on October 7, launch of the new functionality within our Provider Portal, Care Affiliate to enhance the existing prior authorization process has been delayed and will go live December 9, 2024.
Effective December 2, 2024, Blue Cross NC is introducing new functionality within our Provider Portal, Care Affiliate, to enhance the existing prior authorization process that providers are accustomed to using. We are pleased to offer this new functionality to continue to support our provider community.
The new functionality will:
- Enable providers to quickly determine if prior authorization is required.
- Alert providers when a code does not require prior authorization.
- Streamline documentation submission.
Advantages include:
- Faster determinations for providers.
- Elimination of the need for mailed correspondence, faxes, and phone calls.
Additional communication and training opportunities will be shared in the coming weeks.
