Care Affiliate portal changes effective July 17, 2024 July 03, 2024 Physicians & Specialists Claims & Coding Medical Policy & Clinical Guidelines

Effective July 17, 2024, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) is implementing changes to the “Event Classification” field in the Care Affiliate portal.

Beginning July 17, “Event Classification” will be a required field. While “None” will show as an option, providers should choose one of the other options available: Non-Urgent/Standard or Urgent/Expedited. As an example, see the image below. 

If the selection remains “None,” an error message will display when the request is submitted. See the image below as an example.
