Provider Link Discontinuation for Utilization Management Services - Effective January 1, 2022
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) is disabling the Utilization Management (UM) capability within Provider Link at the end of 2021 in an effort to streamline the exchange of records and communication with providers. Blue Cross NC will be partnering with providers to increase efficiency through the expansion of our electronic portal – Blue e. Additional details will be provided at a later date.
Providers should continue to use Provider Link will for non-UM services, such as pre-service and post-service claim review.
Providers who are not currently using the Blue e portal for UM purposes will be asked to share clinical records by utilizing the following fax numbers by December 31, 2021:
Commercial
Fax clinical records to 800-571-7942 (Medical) or 866-987-4161 (Behavioral Health) or use the Blue e Care Affiliate Authorization Portal
Federal Employee Program (FEP)
Fax clinical records to 877-583-0113 (Medical) or 866-987-4159 (Behavioral Health) or use the Blue e Care Affiliate Authorization Portal
Medical Advantage (MA)
Fax clinical records to 336-794-1556
