Medicare 2 Percent Payment Reduction Temporarily Suspended

To help providers with cash flow concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic, CMS is temporarily suspending the 2 percent reduction in Medicare payments that we’ve had in place since 2015. As such, until further notice, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) will not apply a 2 percent sequestration reduction in payments being made to in-network providers in North Carolina for dates of service May 1 and after.

Although we're not able to commit to a specific period of time for this suspension, we’ll provide advance notice before we reinstate application of the policy. The change applies to providers treating Blue Cross NC Medicare members as well as members of Experience Health.
